The Lemon Award? What is he talking about? Well, this year I felt that I should not just recognize the best companies when it comes to privacy, but also the worst!
The Nominees were hard to pick as we really had some great EXPOSED! episodes in the series over the year and could have picked any of them. But staying on the topic of privacy, I chose the most privacy invasive companies.
The favourites are obvious, Facebook (Meta), Google, this year even Apple (the private ones lol) but most of all Amazon made it onto my personal list of Lemons list. Even so it was a hard pick as any of them could have won, however, I believe no-one deserves The Lemon Award for 2021 more than Amazon.
To be honest, we started covering Amazon about 2 years ago, but more and more surfaced, here are some of the essentials we found.
They are also into many more businesses you could ever imagine, even health care now.
Amazon is collects your metadata and then forces their AmazonBasics range at the expense of legitimate start-ups. Ripping ideas and businesses apart, undercutting prices just to drive them out of business. They monitor your browsing behaviour, listening to Alexa to push and make sales. Amazon deserves this award for being just creepy, and I am sure this is not the last time we'll write about them on EXPOSED!
